TRAPPED is a series of 24 analog collages, placing a woman’s body in a dramatic landscape with the head of a wild animal. The source materials are deliberately provocative: vintage Playboy spreads, photographs of mothers, majestic natural settings. The series examines the interlocking systems of patriarchal control: over women’s bodies, wild animals, and the natural world. The commodification of the female body sits right alongside the commodification of ecosystems. The persistent capitalist gaze attempts to flatten everything it encounters -- woman, wilderness, creature -- into something that can be owned, managed, or consumed.
